Well I had stitches- nylon and normal, they took the normal out but because the NHS referred me to this semi-private facility they forgot to take the nylons out and those they could remove were very painful after the skin grew back. The rest will dissolve in another year!
I was able to eat and drink straight away, they say normally but I mostly stuck to my low fat diet but had full fat yogurts and milk so it didn't upset my stomach and then after a week started on light fatty meals.
It took me a couple of weeks to get my energy back. Post op I still have problems with large, heavy meals as they don't go down very quickly and tend to build up and make my side painful, but the upside is that the weight stayed off!

thanks - i think being forced into smaller, lower-fat meals can't be a completely bad thing, all things considered. :) i'm just looking forward to not worrying about everything little thing i eat!
